We have an opportunity for an experienced Reliability Manager within our Engineering Team who would work at Fletchers Bakery in Sheffield, which is part of our Northern Cluster.

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Reliability Manager’s key focus will be to assist the Site Engineering Manager with driving the engineering department priorities and strategy. The successful candidate will have worked in a similar engineering position within a fast-paced environment previously. This a leadership role which requires the successful candidate to have good communication and influencing skills, who has the ability successfully manage a wider team of engineers.
This is what you’ll actually do!
As the Reliability Manager you will manage and support the shift engineering managers, fabrication and packaging engineers to control the effective running of the department in terms of plant efficiency, reliability, budgetary controls, health and safety, food safety and identified project work. You will also own and review personal and team KPI’s in order to drive improvements.
You will co-ordinate with Production on a day-to-day basis, to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the production operation. It will be important for you to influence and effectively manage the shift-engineering managers/senior engineers on a daily basis to ensure all matters concerning the department and plant operations are progressed in a timely manner. In the absence of the Site Engineering Manager, it will be your responsibility to fully deputise for the role. It will be your responsibility to implement and maintain a planned preventative maintenance system for all plant and machinery and to ensure all relevant records are accurate within the CMMS system. As part of the role, you will need to work within the budgetary limits laid down and where possible identify cost savings and general efficiency benefits.
As the Reliability Manager you must ensure that all Health and Safety requirements are met and that the engineers and contractors follow the guidelines laid down by legislation and Fletchers Bakery. You will also carry out food safety related investigations when required, following customer complaints, internal factory incidents etc. Therefore, it will be your responsibility to carry out safety related projects, risk assessments, safe working procedures, audits and safety briefings.
A key part of this role will be to provide direction and support to the Engineering team, to have responsibility for the day-to-day operations of the department as well as managing and facilitating staff performance whilst also dealing with any absence, disciplinary and grievances when required. You will also be required to organise contract labour for plant repairs and maintenance where necessary.
As the Reliability Manager it will be your job to ensure that Engineering integrity is maintained, liaising with the Site Engineering Manager when appropriate. You will also assist the Site Engineering Manager with the development of the maintenance plan and strategy. From time to time, you may be required to carry out ad-hoc projects and investigations as well as carrying out specific plant improvement projects.
The role would require your support on the delivery of specific defined capital projects or assist with certain identified elements of capital projects when required. You will also need to become fully conversant with all Engineering Health and Safety management systems on site, including Electricity at Work (fixed plant and portable appliance testing), Gas safety, Legionella control, COSHH, PUWER, and Asbestos management.
You will contribute to the continuous improvement of business performance by achieving personal and site objectives, participating and fully supporting the site Operating Brilliance Process (OBP), and contributing to cross functional objectives if required.

· Self-motivated and well organised.
· Experienced people manager.
· Sound engineering background experience in either Mechanical or Electrical field.
· Strong communication, IT and numeracy skills.
· A thorough and detailed approach to maintenance work.
· Knowledge of plant maintenance work and CMMS systems.
· Knowledge of inspection processes including completion of accurate documentation.
· Knowledge of statutory Engineering legislation.
· Must have a flexible approach to work, be able to work on own initiative and be a confident decision maker able to communicate at all levels of the organisation.
· Strong self-management and prioritisation of time.
· Mentor/coaching style management approach to team members.
· Capable of influencing and confidently communicating at senior management level and below.
· Highly resilient and capable of working with minimal direct support.
