We have a new position for a Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) Improvement Lead to join our site Health, Safety and Environmental Team at our Ultrapharm site.
The HSE Improvement Lead will work across the site to deliver best-in-class Health, Safety and Environmental solutions and strategy in conjunction with the various Site Leadership Teams, HSE Business Partner and the Group Energy and Sustainability Manager.
The role is to play a major part in building and embedding a culture to ensure that Finsbury Food Group is a safe place to work and visit and offers the chance to lead tactical and strategic deployment of HSE (and other) projects throughout the business.

This is what you’ll actually do!
As the HSE Improvement Lead, you’ll work with the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) to foster an HSE culture and ensure the highest levels of excellent HSE management by providing expert advice throughout the sites operations to ensure the effective management of all HSE requirements and to maintain compliance with all current statutory and legislative regulations.
You will be responsible in planning, supporting the development of, and implementing robust HSE practices across the site. Setting SMART health, safety and environmental objectives with the SLT for their teams, while ensuring that risk assessments/ impact assessments are in place and that a site HSE risk register is maintained and that this is reviewed regularly, managing risk and fostering an HSE culture.
The Successful Candidate!
We are a business which is growing and implementing change, so the successful candidate will be able to influence and challenge effectively to a variety of different stakeholders, adapting their coaching style where needed to educate and deliver on the HSE agenda.
The successful candidate will have a background manufacturing, ideally in the food industry. They will have had experience in changing the health & safety culture or of developing a health & safety strategy, with continuous improvement in mind.

- Confident and assertive personality with a proactive solution focused approach to HSE and Sustainability
- Ability to adapt your coaching style and effectively influence various stakeholders
- NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent qualification e.g. Level 5 Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety
- IEMA Foundation certificate or other recognised Environmental qualification
- Strong facilitation, organisational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritise workload and multitask coupled with a high attention to detail
- Good Microsoft Office skills (specifically Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Previous Safety, Health and Environmental experience at a senior level gained within Manufacturing and experience developing a HSE culture.
- Strong communication skills, both written & verbal.
- Understanding of current and proposed Safety, Health and Environmental legislation.
- Knowledge and Experience of ISO type management systems.
