We have an opportunity for a Shift Manager to join our Operations team in Ultrapharm.
Ultrapharm is a dedicated Gluten Free bakery specialising in only Gluten Free products since 1993. The company’s unique approach to craft and baking creates premium gluten-free products with the flavour and taste of traditional bread. If you have special dietary needs or nutritional preferences, then our Pontypool bakery has you covered. Our products range from artisanal bread to our award-winning Hot cross buns and Mince pies for major retailers such as M&S and Waitrose. You’ll play a key role in providing customers with Celiac Disease or special dietary requirements products that are safe to eat!
Finsbury Food Group is a leading speciality bakery manufacturer. This is what you’ll actually do!
The Shift Manager will manage end-to-end manufacturing of our gluten free products. They will be responsible for the adherence to process & quality standards, including Waste Reduction, Yield maximisation, successfully pass internal and external audit standards, Hygiene Standards, Quality Standards and zero accidents.
This role requires a leadership standard of work, enabling for autonomy of leadership decisions in order to adhere to the production plan within schedule. The shift manager is responsible for conducting process audits and accurate reporting of issues such as downtimes, accidents & H&S risks, following the escalation procedure where necessary.
Other duties include team management processes such as managing behaviours and breaks on shift, managing the holiday & absence process and conducting probation reviews.
The Successful Candidate!
The successful candidate will be able to work on their own initiative and be confident in directing the team in activities. They will show a keen interest in learning the processes and show an aptitude for this, exhibiting lean manufacturing techniques.
You should be flexible in adapting to the needs of the site & be a champion of change, as the site looks to increase the volume produced & change current working processes. In line with this you should be able to effectively manage your time & confidently people manage.

- Shift management experience gained from the food industry and team management/supervision.
- Attention to detail and quality control
- Experience of working within a operations team and cross functionally with other departments including Technical, Engineering, Hygiene, Supply Chain, NPD & HR
- Excellent communication skills and able to communicate clear strategies and plans.
- Highly organised with the ability to show strong project and time management skills.
- Quick learner but with the confidence to challenge the status quo.
